Fire broke out approximately 2:30 p.m. in the Glenrosa area just above a populated subdivision in West Kelowna (previously known as Westbank) BC in the Okanagan Valley. This video was taken from our deck about a 6 minute drive from the fires, closer as the crow flies!
Amazing footage! Thanks for sharing!

I was on that fire in Glenrosa, I believe I was being briefed probably right around the time you were shooting this video actually, and working on the line shortly thereafter. Thanks to the people of Kelowna who were all SO appreciative towards us, and helpful as well. We're happy to be of service!! The red stuff is fire retardant, which is basically a substance which coats various fuels and makes them less flammable. It's red because it contains rust. Be safe and take care!

The fire.. my god how scary those fires were... went from a small brush fire to a massive forest fire. Now the firefighters know.

"Where do they get that red stuff?" There are 18 airtanker bases in BC. They loaded from Penticton, Kamloops and Castlegar on this particular fire, using many different airplnes.
