  • Almost 50 years later, still the most bad-ass thing ever built by man.

  • No, it was classified as an interceptor, though the earlier A-12 and the later SR-71 fulfilled a different role: reconnaissance.

  • красивый самолет)))

  • did they?

  • what about the a-12. No one cares about it any more even no it pretty much started that generations of aircraft's Dx

  • They actually had a version as a strike bomber. Because it threatened the F-111 (MacNamara's pet project) so in 1968, all the blueprints and tooling were destroyed at MacNamara's order...

  • At Lockheed, Kelly Johnson worked on both the YF-12A and the C-130. It's a shame he didn't accidentally mix up the notes for both aircraft; it would have been one cool looking Herc.

  • @MattB613 Joe said hi.

  • Look this up on Wikipedia, and go down to the statistics.

This travels at mach 3.35, which is FASTER than the SR-71.

  • the new tactical reconnaissance toy... the TR-3b . . .

  • "Story of the day"???? It's the greatest story ever told in aviation. None will ever be greater than the SR-71 because the SR-71 was the first.

  • @carby212 your comment doesn't make sense...
