This fight is annoying. Not hard, you can win it on your first try, but it can piss you off big time by her trap sand.

A good way to avoid them is too run along the water or the rocks, she can't dig under water or near rock. This will allow you to get close to her, but she runs away all the time. Needless to say that wrestling move are a given in this fight like all the bosses. But overall she's easy don't worry she shouldnt pose much of a threath.

On your comments that the game doesn't make sense, a theory I have is that Travis is ultra-durable. It's just sort his power. In the original trailer, he gets shot tons of times with guns and missiles, and survives. He also gets injured a lot of times in cutscenes (which are different from gameplay where everyone can take multiple sword slashes and live, that's just how it is in games) and survives. Travis could probably take a grenade to the face and survive. It's just his thing.
