Redwing

Spotted a pair of Redwings in the garden yesterday. Mad rush for the camera as I was expecting them to fly off suddenly which is what the Fieldfare kept doing two years ago. However the Redwing seems to be a lot bolder than the Fieldfare and a lot less aggressive. (See my Fieldfare video)
Always good to spot a bird that doesn't normally frequent gardens as they're often seen in open farmland. The last four days have been very windy so I'm guessing they've sheltered in the garden - albeit for a short time. Redwings migrate from Scandinavia where the winters are truly epic compared to the UK. Having said that our last three winters have seen arctic conditions so maybe we'll see a change in the normal migratory winter behaviour in some bird species?
Filmed on Sony DCR TRV240 E digicam and narrated on a Zoom H2 recorder. Film gamma filter added via windows moviemaker on XP.
Didn't use tripod as concerned they would have flown off during setting up so apologies for wobbly footage.

huh, looks a little like our American Robin thrush. Like a juvie. Oh look at the green grass! Im still in NY, though at my San Diego site. Snow all over here.
