Harry A. Miller, father of Americas open-wheel race cars, built his first race car for Barney Oldfield. The car was known as the 1917 Golden Submarine.

Even today it looks areodynamic and slippery. Didn't Harry have a sneak peak inside some French engined racer and get a few ideas? I've often wondered how involved Harry was in designing things, or if Leo did most of that and Harry provided the means etc. It's amazing what they accomplished and how varied it was, just amazing.
