This is my submission for the Nokia N8 Direct and Project film competition held on January 19th, 2011 at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
I didn't win, but given that I'm a complete film amateur (I'm just a blogger), I know I held my own.
For me, the film was about capturing the small things that happen each day during my "morning routine". One of the things that I concentrated on was making sure I captured the sound of the morning--something that most people don't think about.
tl/dr: It's about me making coffee.
Most of these shots are not possible with the N8 because it uses a hyperfocal lens while recording video (i.e., it is in focus from about 60 cm to infinity). I had to use a magnifying glass and a Jeweller's Loupe to get the shots I did out of the camera.
All the audio is actually recorded using the N8's sound recorder and spliced in (I have two small children, which make video recording difficult). The sound recorder app captures high quality sound (blows away the audio recording on the video camera).
Some other notes:
* The contest required all footage to be taken using Nokia's N8 smartphone.
* The film could not be longer than 1 minute.
* I am indebted to WOMWorld Nokia for providing me with the device to make my film. Thanks for flying me out to Vancouver for the show. It was an awesome experience.

It's a great video, love the shots - a lot of time and prep went into this. Well done
