Last Saturday, I took April for a walk, and we came across 2 sparrow fledglings on the side walk. They got frightened, and fluttered into the gutter. I rescued them and tried to find their nest, but no luck. So I decided to hand raise them till they feathered out better and could fly better. Sadly, the younger of the two sparrows didn't make it, but the older one is thriving and eating very well. He is in a small cage now, and I have food on the bottom of the cage so that he can learn to peck at it.

  • At first, did he refuse to eat it? I rescued one a day ago but he doesn't want to eat.

  • @CatAppleDragon HI, you have to force him gently by putting some food in its' mouth. Good luck!! Thanks for trying to save him, too.

  • is it really so good for a little baby bird to sit in a cage? is it because of the cat?

  • @Mellimelly23 Hi there.. it's for the bird's best interest to keep him safe. thanks for asking.

  • I found a fledgling yesterday and he made it through the night. He seems to like drinking water, but he doesn't seem too interested in regular bird feed. I'm going to try the warma water and dog food, I really hope that helps. Thank you so much for this video! Wish me luck!

  • did ur birdd ever not eat in the begining? :( cus yesterday i found 2 fledgling sparrows but one of them isnt eating at allll :|

  • @pennahusky awwww, so sorry to hear that , but thank you for helping. You are an angel.

  • @pennahusky Hi. get dry cat or dog food and moisten it with warm water.Make sure it's soft. Force feed him a little by putting some food in it's beak and he'll soon catch on.

  • @grathysink when we had doves roosting this past season, the crows kept trying to scare the parents away and take the eggs. Want to know how we got them to stop? Scare crows. No joke, they work. It kept those crows away until the chicks grew up. But crows are smart, so I had to keep building more and more of them...too bad they made their nest in my front yard. I must have looked crazy with an army of scare crows in my front yard hahaha

  • That's very nice, congrats.
