How many kata's does uechi ryu has ? and is true that uechi ryu has the least amount of kata's compared to all the other styles of karate ?
-
Yes I do and have trained with him on many occasions.
Geoff is a great person, and is very skilled.
-
Does anybody here happen to know Master Geoff Krouse?

ja das ist eine feine sache aber dojos sollten sich edikte kommentieren um sich auch in der lebendigen zeit heutzutage zu übersetzten

@1banryukyu The Video Explains nothing at all. Uechi-Ryu is a well respected style, and should be displayed as such, especially by those of us who have had the privilege of studying under the family. One that truly respects the culture and history of Uechi-ryu, would either make a video providing more info than just the tiger crane and dragon, or not make one at all.

@brenfroster1 Sir Okinawa did not become a prefecture of Japan until 1879. Uechi Ryu was named after Mr. Uechi Kanbun by is oldest son Mr. Uechi Kanei and top deshi in 1958. Mr. Uechi Kanbun was born in 1877 and died in 1948. Mr. Uechi Kanbun traned in a style of Chinese Chuan Fa he called Pangainoon. So there was no Uechi Ryu Karate Do during the Ming Time Period.

@tilyfo1 Sir I trained with Mr. Shimabukuro of the Naha Shi Uechi Ryu Dojo near Kokusai Dori in Okinawa Ken Japan in the 1990s and I found this clip to be ok. I would like to ask where and by what means do you feel this clip disrespected the Uechi family and or Uechi Ryu Karate. Thank you for your time.

@tilyfo1 Plus, so far as I know, he is correct about Uechi-Ryu... He was not in depth, as you said... And I guess he included a picture of his Sensei as well.....

No, I am sorry to say I do not know a guy named Bill, as I mostly know the most important figures in Uechi Ryu, like the founder and the first teachers etc. Thank you for leaving a comment, and I'm just curious, are you still training in Uechi Ryu?
GreatUke 3 years ago
