You make a VERY good point! I recall those bulky video tape machines in jr high & later high school. And yes, they usually did record in B&W as I recall! Guess B&W tape was MUCH cheaper than color! THANKS for your illuminating comment! :-)

@JubalCalif Yes It probably was. I've never saw this one on the PBS channel, whoever posted it might have gotten it from an old time video tape machine that filmed in B&W. Back in the 1970s, they used to have the huge bulky ones in schools.

I thought so too! I'm surprised the Welk show was still being broadcast in B&W as late as '66! Of course, this may simply be a B&W copy of a color telecast.

Why is this in B&W? I thought The Lawrence Welk Show was already in color in 1965.
