A Sketch from a forthcoming collaboration with Bradford artist Caro Blount Shah.
Music I compose causes vibrations in carborundum filings which over the course of 1-2 minute excerpts create patterns which in turn are affixed to metal discs. These then produce large screen prints which are hung in the space while the process, videos, music are played.
Each excerpt of music is a condensed version of music I would normally spread out with larger forces over a longer period. However due to the nature of the art work, each excerpt has been distilled into these chaotic, yet crystalline moments of time.

Thanks man, this is just a test one...hopefully I'll get some better sounds etc for the next one, and wont be deliberately playing silly buggers at the piano.

I have noted on many occasions the various patterns in sand and debris caused by vibrations from power tools in our welding shop.
I really like this art form that you and Shah have created.

btw, the piano in this was deliberately bad/messy to stop me from submitting this in my comp portfolio...the final work will include human voice, sitar, 12 string guitar, tabla, African drums and electronics.
