Hmm, the boric acid i've seen before has always been white.

Yea it looks white or slightly off white - about 40 seconds into the video. The camera may have been thrown off a bit in color by the glowing metal or the flux may not have been pharmaceutical grade boric acid. It's really my best guess. Wish I could tell you more precisely.

What sort of fluxing agent is he using??

I'm not sure (translation difficulties) but probably boric acid crystals. Under heal they melt and form an antioxidation layer. which is what flux basically does.
