I lost faith in the series after that and never bothered with 8 and DS. If enough good things are said about 9, I might give the series a second chance.
I lost faith in the Mario series period because of the redundant use of the same main antagonist and useless kidnapping plots. I can think of so many past characters and a few of my own that could've replaced the loser, ESPECIALLY for the Mario Party series, not to mention go beyond simple "kidnappings". You know, it's gotten to the point where they use kidnapping Peach as a scapegoat for playing the games. These games are now worthless, and pointless to play if there's no better reasons.
@mrbenio The whole "Peach was kidnapped again" theme has gotten rather redundant on its own, but I still have faith in the series as a whole. Despite the core of the plot being redundant, the variations on it that have arisen have kept me willing to play the games. I will admit that I wouldn't mind seeing more variety, though. The gameplay, at least from my perspective, remains innovative, however, so even if the plot is just an excuse, I still enjoy the games.
@AdmiralLuigi No really, there is NO POINT in playing these games. Even with the new junk and cool/difficult bosses and enemies they throw in, in the end all you get to fight is this dumb--- fire-breathing turtle in which the game makers will never let him get a clue that he just can't win. It's these things alone that made me not only stop buying games, but even sell them.
Even though MP5 was a step up from Mario party 4 polish-wise, it wasn't really that great. It was way too slow paced, the minigames were bland, and the game was overall boring. MP4 was better IMO.
@mrbenio I get the impression we're not going to agree on this series. You're free to be disillusioned with it, just as I am free to continue enjoying it. That said, I appreciate all the music uploads.
My grades for the Mario Party games:
1: B
2: A-
3: A+
4: A
5: A-
6: C
Advance: F
7: D-
