The Bride Price: Consequences of Child Marriage Worldwide is a video containing moving images by Stephanie Sinclair - recipient of the 2007 UNICEF Photo of the Year - on the many issues of child marriage. Sinclair's photos include compelling images of child brides in Afghanistan, Ethiopia and India. Sinclair's previous work on child marriage includes a photo essay of Afghani child brides published in The New York Times.

where is the united nations and the world health organizations on these matters? The world need to insist these types of cultural events must change. Women and girls must not be exploited in this manner and held hostage to the insanity of men.

In the latest issue of National Geographic (June 2011) there is an article about child marriage. Stephanie Sinclair did the photographs for the spread as well. The article features a 5 year old girl named Rajani being married to her 10 year old suitor. It's disgusting. Regardless of your beliefs or traditions, how can anyone see any right in this? They are CHILDREN!

this is disgusting! its like time has stood still in these countries and its 2000 B.C. WHY the hell dont the woman bann together and start standing up for themselves, and their daughters! its been 2000 years and religion is comsuming these countries like a wild beast. they will be destroyed by there own hands if they dont move into the 21st century soon and stop controlling and abusing their woman and children. because this is whats this is really about CONTROL!!!

Even worse than the legal pedophile marriage of children to older men is that the huge age difference means their husbands die long before they do and they are kicked out of the house as useless. The land is full of begging women without homes or jobs and they just die off on the streets from neglect. How is it possible to consider women lower than farm animals. How is this any different from pedophilia that the internet is so concerned about policing?!

This is so HEARTBREAKING, I don't understand how a mother or father can agree for their young daughter to marry, often times to a grown man...It's SAD, SICK and just WRONG, These girls deserve a chance to live their lives, get an education and choose their husbands in due time, Why doom them to a life of poverty, child- rearing and suffering. No excuse, there are many poor families in this world, but they suffer together, they DON'T force their young, virgin daughters to marry grown men. SHAME
