Am curious as to what you mean by rail gauge on the rail. You must be referring to the weight of the rail, the maker and the year it was rolled.on the side of the rail. Whats stamped on the rail has no bearing to the gauge of the track its in.

Good stuff. I've thought many times about getting to Scranton just to railfan the D-L. I have fond memories of watching the EL through Clarks Summit growing up in the '70s, but I can't recall if I ever saw any of their Alcos.

Yea, those Alcos do tend to smoke, don't they!! Adds to the drama, I think. And who knows, DL guys are railfans themselves, so maybe they're helping to preserve history with their Alco love!
Good catch with the different rail gauges on either side. Not normal, I agree!
And yea, old stick rail can look real unsafe! I've often wondered how trains coming down Minooka siding stay on track!
