A good idea can be to take away the stick for a minute, if it doesn't make sense then something's probably a bit off mark. Look at the old Teovel and Villasin videos from the 60-70's, they're hands on both from Instructor and student side. Balintawak is more than just reflex training despite some modern approaches, trying to make it fit the WEKAF format. Balintawak controls it's opponent. Good luck with your training.
