2 year old filly rides for the first time. She is nervous, but stays contained. You are watching the end of her ride. Her limits were being tested at this point. You see her yield her head left to right with gentle pressure, back up and move forward. Most importantly we end on a good note to build on next ride.

  • When asking for the trot increase your urgency with your legs. Do it at a steady pace. Nice gentle tap, tap, tap. Not hard kicking or spurring. Make sure your horse has enough rein so they feel like they can move forward. Hope this helps. Good luck!

  • All it takes is patience and time. After a horse gains confidence in riding you can ask them for a trot. Give your horse a couple weeks of just getting used to riding then ask for that trot when they appear ready. Every horse is unique. Learn to read your horse and you will do just fine.

  • i just did my first ride on my horse. He know the que to start walking, he knows stop and turning. how would I teach him to trot? I would hire a trainer if I had money, but everything seems to be going well enough right now. I've just never done any saddle training. Do you have any advice?
