Touhou 7 (Perfect Cherry Blossom) - Yukari Pacifist Run

"If you're using Reimu A in PCB you may as well be doing pacifist since she's so weak" ~RobinLSL

(Well, not exactly how it was worded, but that's the gist of it)

Well well, never thought I'd be uploading anything like this! This was a pacifist run of PCB's Phantasm stage, done using Reimu A. Main reasons being she makes the stage somewhat easier on the whole with her homing, her movement speed and hitbox are ideal for this, and her bombs are generally better than Reimu B's at bullet clearing + duration (at least I find this to be the case. Feel free to disagree with respect to Duplex Barrier).

So as not to gimp myself in terms of resources, and to retain my sanity, the stage itself was done normally - only Yukari was done without attacking. This is actually the second clear I did of this - the first came on my second attempt at Yukari (which was when I started using Reimu A), but I decided to try and get a better quality play. So here it is!

I was wondering what pacifist run meant, till I saw you not shoot her, man how long did take for you to perfect this?

@colonel24567: I didn't try very many times under the pacifist conditions, I'll be completely honest. Yukari is one boss I am naturally very good at, since I understand how all of her cards work very well. Most of them don't get progressively harder either, so this really wasn't all that bad to do. I made far more mistakes than I should have in this run though, lol.

Also, you think Mesh of Light and Darkness is hard/a pain? I absolutely love that card to death because I love Marisa (As a boss) and what does she use? Lasers and let me tell you dodging bullets while dodging lasers is a really fun time, especially when the lasers can't be streamed due to them not having some kind of aim based on your position.

@Esupanitix: Mesh is amazing, it just gets overwhelming to do a timeout of because of how fast it gets. Also strictly speaking the mesh is aimed for you - the laser spawn points centre around your current position. But since the directions are then randomised, it makes little difference.

@Hijijiriri: You know, I could buy into that. It doesn't make universal sense to me, but I could definitely see it as being a thing for some characters at least, Yukari being one of them.

@gamercal101 You know I may sound crazy for thinking like this, but I think the bubbles are really eyeballs. Think of it, the hitbox lies in the iris/pupil part, the part of the eye actually used to see. Satori (3rd eye) uses these eyes in all her original attacks (minus DS) and she makes purple ones (like her eye color!). It's really creepy if you think of it like that, but hey... Yea.

@gamercal101 I know, I'm just being SILLY AND HYPER AS FUCK right now. Yeah, I know about the speed thing, but I've tried to do it before and let me tell you it was so freaking fun.

If they ever make a second Ikaruga game, they should have someone put that attack in as a homage to this game.

I don't make gaps in most of Yukari's nonspells when I have to restream because the gaps are often simple enough for me to manage. However, the later ones which get really complicated, I hate.

Maybe I'm just easily confused by them. Now that I think about it though, the effect is also observed in one of Satori's DS attacks, where the red and blue bubbles combine and make a purple one. Oh well, thanks for pointing that out.
