  • Ok, I work at walmart. Minimum wage in my state is 7.25, Walmart paid me 7.90 to start off. I get a 15 minute break AND a 30 minute meal period for a 6 hour shift. I get whatever schedule i want, and if there's a mess up and i can't be at work, all i have to do is call. Walmart does pretty damn good for its employees compared to other places. At my first job i was threatened to be fired and got cut hours because i wasn't selling enough store cards, which paid minimum to work swing shifts

  • This, all of this, forever. I'm doing alright now, but when I was younger, my family was wretchedly, wretchedly poor. We knew what "sorry, there's nothing to eat because we finished the last box of mac and cheese" felt like. I got a job at Wal-Mart at 16, became the sole breadwinner and we all ate. We were warm. The lights turned on sometimes we went to the movies. People arguing that big box stores are THE DEVIL have never wondered where their next meal will come from, guaranteed.

  • I know for a FACT(let’s call it a fact) that Penn buys all of his pens at Wal-Mart. However, I am not sure what this has to do with that---working on it.

!!this message brought to you by: Wal-Mart!!

  • I worked at Wal-Mart for four years before joining the Navy. It was great; my managers where respectful, my coworkers were generally friendly (there is always dipshits, but w/e). I actually enjoyed my experience at there. I learned a lot about real work (ie. cart pushing) and I made a lot of friends that I still have today, all while making around $9 an hour.

  • I like shoping at Wal-Mart because they ALWAYS give you choice. If you are Broke, they have products that will put food on the table that are good products. Or, if your doing well, they have Name Brand products that you can buy. Always at A DAM GOOD PRICE... They NEVER give me the Attitudes I use to get from The Mom and Pop stores. So give it up all you Jerks that hate Wal-Mart. I will always shop there because of what they do for ALL PEOPLE.. Not just the rich creeps..

  • If people really wanted Wal-Mart gone, they wouldn't shop there, and it wouldn't be able to survive, so it wouldn't exist where they live. The fact of the matter is...most people are going to be fine with it if they can pay $2000 less per year by shopping there. I'd love to support smaller, more heart-felt stores - but I simply can't afford to. I currently don't have a job, and am a student.-I don't WANT to work at Wal-Mart, but if it IS my only option, I'll take it.

  • Teller would be a good check out clerk. Why? Because I would want to check my items out and get going, not make idle chit-chat.

  • here is the key for kill the wal-mart... DONT SHOP THERE!

  • Where i come from we have semi monopoly of 2 large store chains. Reason they work well is they do not attampt to specialize in everything. Sure they got ALMOST as muhc variety as wallmart, but special stores still make good profits and employ people IN THE SAME MALL no less. :P

Small bussnesses are aided and thats the basic liftup of it. Every large bussness was once small one. Special stores come ang go, but quite many stay and trhive. :)

  • Just like the information technology revolution, Walmart reduces the labor required to provide a service; creating a channel for producers to sell to consumers.

And when such a task is made more efficient, it means that society as a whole has more human resources to spend in other areas. Are all the books in Europe still being transcribed by hand in monasteries?

The issue is rather that the USA has no safety net, free education nor job reeducation as one finds in Norther Europe.

  • I work at walmart, and I have come to learn that it depends on the store you're working in and how the managers are. Some will screw you over, while some will treat you right. I recently transferred to a store that is screwing me over, so I'm trying to get back to a better store.

Bottom line, a walmart job is better than no job at all.

  • im in ireland, i dont agree with what walmart does and stands for

but it gives people jobs, esp the poor areas

    so who cares, fuck it
