This weeks photo of the Week brings us a 10,000 ISO shot captured with the Nikon D3s of Nick Perri of the band Sinai. As you will see when I edit this image I am about 2 stops under exposed. If I was not two stops under i would not have been able to freeze this motion.

The D3s aloud me to capture this image at 10,000 ISO and still keep a large amount of quality.

Take a look at this video below to hear more about this image and how it was edited.

  • Hay Jared, I'm a newbie when it comes to terms, but what is the real meaning of "faster glass"?

  • @DarthAndre24 wider f stop capability like 2.8 , 1.8, 1.4

  • Fro, what's the best editing software for my d700, Lightroom or Photoshop????

  • @RedWine2go lightroom

  • @JaredPolin one more thing, is iPhoto compatible with the Nikon D3100's RAW yet? Cuz when I try to import in pure raw it won't let me, so I'm having to shoot in RAW + JPEG Fine.

  • @ASPCAfan prob not yet. either is light room.

  • I actually liked it at 4:53... maybe not for every shot, but something about it works for me...

  • love lightroom luminance, i had a action shot where i had the iso @ 3200 with my d3100. it wasn't the best shot but it was usable.

  • what does raw mean?(:

  • im 15 and i photograph for my brother's death metal band. got a nikon L100 and it is decent to say the least. I get really good outdoor pics and the macro settings are really good, but surprisingly there is no manual setting. i get some good pics for my brothers band, but most are just ok. I don't have a lot of money, so what do you think i should do? I'm thinking about selling it and investing in a D5000 or a D90. Will those cameras do the the trick for better live photography?

  • I have a poster of Nick similar to this, but it's so blurry, it annoys the heck outta me. Shoulda had you take the picture.

  • @Pacman020974 I have set up strobes in the past off to the side to get different photos and may consider doing it here but most of the time I like to capture the scene as it is. The mono light isnt a bad a idea and im sure they wont have a problem with me doing it if I decide to set it up sometime.

  • @Mindtraveler3 oh i agree for fps and my hasselblad is an older one so i bought it for around $9.000 with no lens. haha and i deffinetly do not take it to my friends bands concert at the club. i take my K-7 to the club =P i guess the hasselblad is more of a landscape type camera. or portraits. the only thing i love about hasselblad is the huge sensor and the brilliant colors. they're absolutely amazing

  • @DustinBodenVEVO I should say the Hasselblad in my opinion is overkill. Depending on the model you're loooking at $14,000 - $40,000! Plus the cost of the lenses! Im not questioning the quality of that camera but what I am saying is that its not a camera I would carry around to photograph my friends band practice... as Jared's video about capturing motion depicts. Also I would rather have 8 to 11 FPS. and up to 102,500 ISO at 12.1 MP. Than 1 FPS and 20 to 40 MP. Especially at a world class event.

  • @Mindtraveler3 haha. i doubt id get laughed at considering not many people know what hasselblad is. unfortunetly. and i HAVE brought my hasselblad to the vancouver olympics AND the olympics in Italy as well. it got some great shots. have you ever used a hasselblad?

  • @JaredPolin 24 i.4 for your type of work is a very good lens to have... I would love to have one, but I already have an older 24. 2.8 which I use a lot with ND filters since you can't put any filters on 14-24. so yes, wide angle lens with that DOF, FTW!!!
