Here's a little something to think about: Not *all* of Europe was hard hit when Russia cut the gas. Denmark went pretty much unscaved by this, because we pretty much are where Pickens and his plan strive to put the US: We've got a tad over 20% of our electricity from wind, and we're self-sufficient on oil and gas.
Big badass conspiracy going on here: Pickens wants to turn the mid-west into a huge Jutland... XD
YouTube comments are too weak to allow for a productive discussion on energy conservation. Low-energy building construction techniques have been saving 70%-90% of building energy without significant building cost increases. Of course it is harder to retrofit existing, badly-designed buildings, so Europe cannot break its natural gas stranglehold quickly. But Europe will reduce its natural gas consumption one way or another, because gas will run out.
Actually Boone is losing money lately. Like all the rest of us who own stocks. If the market keeps plunging, Boone might have to think about parking that jet.
I'm not sure what you think you are arguing with here. I don't have any problem with Boone's wealth. In fact I'm glad he's funding his whole campaign from his own pocket. That's a lot better than most advocacy organizations that have to waste half their time begging for handouts from their supporters.
Do you have the numbers, the numbers of dollars it would take to "Superinsolate" all the buildings in europe which depend on natural gas? it would cost more than twice over what Europe currently pays Russia for natural gas, you have the choice not to be ignorant, go research, so you don't end up looking/sounding stupid.
It is never a good idea for a country to stay dependant on others especially somthing as important as 70% of oil, sure Boone is making money but that money is going to...
help the US economy by creating jobs and keeping our US dollars from leaving our country. You must remember, Boone pays taxes too and therefore helps our country when he makes more money, that is why keeping companies in the US is so important.
This is a great commercial; Boone (or is that Booooo....ooone) is getting his money's worth.
Minor quibble: Europe does have a choice, they can superinsulate all their buildings and cut their use of natural gas for heating by 90%. Retrofitting old buildings is not easy, but it beats freezing when Russia decides to shut the pipe.
Russia is not as easy to invade as, say, Iraq, as Germany and France have already discovered. When Russia shuts the pipe, it stays shut.

It is a matter of national security to ween ourselves off foreign oil. The SPR will not last for very long.
