don carlo here is a younger man in love and trouble, compare to JK or Domingo's mature man, Vargas' voice maybe suit the role more.

This is my most favorite Verdi duet. Now that I have heard these voices and the extra momentum that they push it. I am bewitched by both the singers. Thank you

A superb rendition of this popular duet by two wonderful artists, one of the very best on record. While there are several performances of this piece by singers with "bigger' voices and names, most often egos get in the way and reduce the performance into a singing match, a duel instead of a duet. Both possessing beautiful, expressive voices, Vargas and Gerello are well matched in vocal weight and able to give a more nuanced and meaningful dialogue.
