A tribute to my father, with photos compiled by my sister Ruth. William died on May 9th in Birmingham aged 77. This little film, with the recording of William playing the piano, was shown at his funeral. There is also another called 'Grandchildren'.

  • One of many Cheltenham Grammar School alumni, fortunate enough to have been his pupil, my appreciation of my debt to William has grown over the years. He didn't just teach Mathematics, he taught the beauty of it,

  • Best teacher I ever had! Many of my year (A levels 1966 at Cheltenham Grammar School) were inspired to to do maths at university by William and I recently found one who is Dean of Maths at a major US University. William's humanism and love of music were also great influences on some of us. Gerry_Liston@yahoo.co.uk
