Such a wonderful band, i was born years after they stopped playing, but their music, which was introduced to me by my father, is still very amazing and different than the "music" we have today. Its hard to see that this band still goes unnoticed.

It's also been re released as a digital remaster recently, along with Vienna and later.
Absolute classic album and my favorite of all the Ultravox releases.

picked up the vinyl on a whim today because i thought the cover looked rad and lo and behold the music rules too :-D

So I took the song into Audacity and reversed it. Even then it's hard to make out the "I will remember death in the afternoon" part.

This was my favorite Ultravox album when I was high school! Used to try to draw the album cover all the time! Great production by Conny Plank too! I like the John Foxx years but they really took off when Midge join the band. A classic.

I spent many of my teen years listening to this album, and until now I didn't realise the chorus was part of Death in the Afternoon backwards. I just thought it was so layered and doused in effects, including reverse reverb, that it was nearly unintelligible. I always heard it as "oooh, good for Eden, my friend. How many will fall" and was always puzzled by the 'lyrics'.

A phenomenal band ...many years ahead of its time...and timeless.....

It's actually the chorus of another song on the same album sung backwards. "Oh I remember death in the afternoon"
