It just doesnt get any better than this, the band were so far ahead of the times, and still amazing today.

They were a cult band in the early 70's when I first heard them. Real song and music craftsmen then and still. Just seen they have a new album out - prompted me to check out their old stuff - they still have it - in spades... Dora, anyone for tennis, road to venezuela - and everybody has to learn sometime.. it all comes back after over 30 years - the memories.. !!

They should've written a song called Boots the Male Monkey.

I want to marry the Ginger girl who plays the Violin so seductively...Could She love a Man who plays the Banjo-Ukulele!??

Last time I saw Stackridge playing live Andy was sat behind a mellotron with a Pianet on it. St Albans Civic 1972 I think. It's been too long

@Vexationable Once again such cutting insight. Ever been to glasto? Rhetorical question. You can find that word in dictionary.

Very enjoyable to listen to. Sounds a fun band.

Does anyone remember what their set--which songs they played--at the first Glastonbury?

I remember talking to a member of Stackridge in the La Chasse (London) a long long time ago. He told me one day, I will write a song about you.
Its me DORA

They've still got it!
Wow first heard this on the radio and went stright out and bought their first LP. Manyyears later and it still makes me smile. First note played at first ever Glastonbury (1970) and here they are again playing in 2008.
Thanks to the poster of this and MORE PLEASE!

There are five songs from the set, strictly four and a half as I only recorded the first half of Syracuse The Elephant. Four are already available, not necessarily showing up on search immediately but select "More From: alistairburns" and you can see the others. Road To Venezuela still uploading, was the best of them I reckon.
