  • Powell represents what I have always thought the Republican party should be about.

  • I think that Colin Powell is one of the most reasonable voices at his level of influence. That does NOT make him a Democrat. His statements about the ridiculousness of the "Joe the Plumber" phenomenon and about the falsity of the Obama=socialist claims, for example, are not partisan comments. They are examples of things that were wrong with the McCain campaign which are not related to party policies. He endorsed Obama because the lack of integrity in the McCain campaign outweighed other issues.

  • Powell seems to be the only sound minded republican

  • Powell 2012

  • The Democrats are popular now. They will be popular now.

But that will change when Obama starts acting like Bill "Ah Hahve ah Mandayte" Clinton.

It will be time for another "Republican Revolution".

Then people like Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal will start to look pretty darn good to a lot of voters.

And the true-blue (or is it true-red?) will have THEIR faith rewarded.

  • There IS more than one way to think when it comes to the Republican Party.

But that doesn't mean that every way is RIGHT!

There is a reason why Richard Luger, Orrin Hatch, Arlen Specter and Lamar Alexander lose the primaries.

Because there is a difference between a moderate and a conservative.

And Republicans want their candidates to be conservative. If they wanted to be "moderate" or "liberal", they would be DEMOCRATS!

They like to be DIFFERENT from the Democrats.

  • listen, it was not that long ago that most politicians were republicans and they most certainly differ on almost everything, right now there is a party shift. my prediction is that the repub party will die out bc of ppl like palin or get saved by ppl like powell & mccain. either way repub numbers have been tanking over the years, while the democrats have been growing and will continue to grow. just my observation.

  • lol, as of right now conservatives hate other conservatives. want to know why? its what you call neocons and paleocons, thats why!

you act as if there is one way to think when it comes to the repub party.

  • "This is not middle school, stop being so cliquey"?

I didn't say this was middle school. But here's the thing: if Colin Powell is looking to destroy the Republican Party, then he is definitely in the right place to do so: on the INSIDE!

So, like I said before, the man is a false flagger. He should just stop playing the lone wolf while all the while working for the other side and still calling himself a Republican.

There are no "great moderates in history." Only unprincipled ones.

  • how about having our own damn opinions and think for ourselves for once and not on parties.

this is a grown man who is a four star general who made his OWN decision.

conservatives are sick and tired of other conservatives in the party & disbanding.

so what? if we like mccain or bush we join repubs? if i like obama i join democrat? i dont think so. this is not middle school, stop being so cliquey. this is the real world, dems neither repubs have the solutions to everything.
