  • I like the style cabinet on this one

Did you redo it or is it original?

  • This Cabinet is all original. It is a Sonora Elite Model. The Sonora was famous for the patented bulge sided cabinets and there were four or five different Bulge sided cabinet models of different sizes and prices depending on how ornate and fancy they were.

  • I see some cups there meant for record needles, which makes me wounder. How often should you change the needle, or, how many plays do you get out of one needle?

  • That is a difficult question to answer as different needle makers emerged during this time period with various claims as to how many plays their "finest" needles would provide the user. However, in most cases you were advised to change the needle after every play or in some instances every other play. The new Victor Tungston needles gave many multiple plays of use, and the Bagshaw Gilt Edge needles were "guranteed to to play 10 records on any phonograph". So as you see it could get confusing.

  • In Sweden there existed a record lable

called Sonora, they also made gramophones.

  • Was it a Swedish Company, or maybe the European Division of the New York based Sonora Firm ??

  • I live in Freehold, N.J. It isnt so nice anymore!

  • That's great Idea, I wonder how many images are already available on line of those classic old advertisements for all those well know products of the twenties. Note, I just put up the lyrics for as many as I could recognize. Still a couple that I couldn't quite make out. Thanks for watching.

  • I can see a future project for someone matching the lyrics with the images of the old adds

There are still enough old photos of those adds to do it

Not for me though as i am a bit to busy to do the research but there should be plenty of American historians to do the job

  • Very catchy song and I live in Jersey! Even today I see billboards everywhere.
