@TheDalinkwent Kryptonite doesn't just leave Superman powerless, it can actually immobilise him under extreme pain and eventually kill him after a prolonged exposure. Superman was too weak to fight and he was dying due to the kryptonite and the reason why he was in excruciating pain when Luthor stabbed him, wasn't because he was stabbed, it was because the kryptonite was in contact with his body.

@Xylarxcode, The "I'm still Superman" line is actually what made me think he should at least try to fight back. Superman is supposed to be about more then his powers, so seeing him completely usless when powerless just bothers me. I still like the scene, I was just nitpicking. BTW thanks for the mature response and nice rebuttal. The other guys couldn't help himself with the usual YouTube banter.

@TheDalinkwent Hm, I think the official statement on the fact that Superman was able to lift the island out of the ocean was because he put several layers of earth between him and the island, thereby maintaining his powers with no effect of the kryptonite. And you do make sense. Especially after dramatically yelling out: 'I'm still Superman!' an attempt to fight back would probably only have served to further prove his unwillingness to give up and add more drama to it.

@Xylarxcode, What I meant is an ATTEMPT to fight back. For example, when they hold Superman up to punch him again, why not have Superman try to shove them off and throw a punch of his own only for them to catch his fist and further beat the crap out of him. Another point is later on in the movie Superman is able to lift this entire island despite the Krypotonite. So Superman can will himself to pick up the Krypto island, but he can't even ATTEMPT to fight back?

Damn the best part isn't in this video. I love how Superman flies at incredible speed towards the island and lands with a large thunderous boom, thinking he's the shit. Then he starts to realize something's wrong. I loved that part. Walked into Luthor's trap like an overconfident fool.

@TheDalinkwent That wouldn't have made much sense, though. Yes, Superman has been known to fight back in the presence of Kryptonite, but here's he's on an island that's completely lined with the stuff. It's everywhere. There's no way Superman would be able to stand up to them. Maybe to Luthor, but have you seen his bodyguards? They're pretty buff. They'd kick his ass all over the island.

I liked the last scene he leaves Lex Luthor trapped on the beach to die lol thats why they cant make any more movies because Lex Luthor is going to die and he was the greatest criminal mind of our time lol
@grayspeak Agreed 100%, mate; I LOVE this movie. I am never bored watching it, something which a lot of people have said they were; I'm interested by the characters, hooked by the action and I always fall in love with the nostalgia of it all. It's just a wonderful movie, in my opinion. Not every superhero movie has to be dark and action-packed. Bryan Singer, the cast and crew did an amazing job. I love the first two Superman films and Returns; I honestly can't choose a favourite :-)

Even if you don't like the movie, you must LOVE Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor in this! Such an awesome portrayal of the villain!
