This video report from a news program on Oct 25th, 2009, relates the fact that in contrast to modern androgynous standards of appearance for women, the soft fullness of plus-size beauty has always constituted the ideal of feminine attractiveness in Western Art from the dawn of Classical civilization, through the Renaissance and Baroque, right up until a century ago.

You can find many of the artworks displayed in this report, as well as more images of timeless, full-figured feminine beauty, at http://www.judgmentofparis.com/pinacotheca/

Compare the best images of today's plus-size fashion models (who bring to life the timeless beauty ideal) to those of the androgynous waifs who dominate the runways today, and you'll find that the fuller-figured models are actually far more attractive.

  • Not just western art, but eastern art, too. Africans and Indians also liked curvy women. Through much of world history, the curvy, plus sized women has also been desirable. It's only lately that waifs have taken the stage.

  • definitely one of the best shows on television hands down.

    thanks for uploading this!
