I watched this with tears in my eyes. When my oldest daughter was 2, she landed on my cup of boiling hot herbal tea and she was very badly burned under and on her arm. This resulted in skin grafts. We used to say "thank God it wasn't her face, can you imagine if it was her face?" Well, just a few short years later, her younger sister's head caught on fire. Her face is full of skin grafts. God bless your journey. Your children are beautiful. And so are you x

I hope this kid continues to grow up strong. I'm 18 and still struggling with accepting myself and my burns scar. It's difficult not being able to wear the pretty things other people where because I can't take the staring. But I know I'll get there.

@rankenjordan Thanks for clarifying things. Your hospital seems to be doing a really great job. And there seems to be a good staff that really cares and is committed to the families they serve.
@danc3f0rdaw0lrd and @thorndra keep being strong. You both are living testimonies and are an encouragement to children growing up with the same experience.

My five year old grandson climbed up and got his mom's lighter and tried to light a candle while his mom was in the bedroom with his brother. His three year old brother's shirt caught on fire. My grandson has 1st and 2nd degree burns on his chest, neck and face. I got an e-mail picture of him yesterday. The boys look a lot alike. Your story is such an inspiration and I plan on sharing this story with as many of my 11 grandblessings as possible. As soon as they are old enough. God Bless you.

@merlin711oregon So sorry to hear that!
I hope he's recovering well. I'm glad you found the video inspiring. Thank you for sharing it -- the more people that are aware of fire safety the better. Thankfully Cameron and your grandson are still here today!

@rankenjordan thanks for the quick reply. The fire happened Sat. June 18th. 2011. I am so grateful that your kids and mine are ok. Sent the e-mail of this to my grandson's Aunt ( my oldest daughter) and hopefully she will share it with my daughter whose child was burned. She doesn't have a working computer. You have been through so much. My grandson goes back to the hospital today. I live in California and they all live in Arizona. Your children are all so beautiful. Many blessings to you.

@merlin711oregon Thanks a lot for the wonderful compliments! Although, they're not "my children". Ranken Jordan is a pediatric specialty hospital in St. Louis, Missouri :)
The video is about our previous patient Cameron and his family that were here for rehabilitation to help his range of motion, decrease excessive scaring and help his family.
Unfortunately we see a lot of similar stories. But, on the flip side, we also get to see a lot of similar happy endings :)

My son decided today that he was going to play with a lighter... so I brought him to the computer and showed him burning houses and children who were burnt by fires, I hope that this teaches him a lesson...... THANKS FOR SHARING YOU STORY!!!

@Cindyaiden12 it's good to hear you're teaching him about fire safety. Cameron and his brother were very fortunate to have made it out of their home in time.
