thats what i don't like castlevania fan made projects... they are always one-man project and usually are really good in some points (as for this one enemy management) and very poor in others ( level design)

it's like it's really curse of darkness in 2d.
i mean, check out the level design. it's even flatter and more repetitive than curse's.
