I love this video. It's a nice lead in to the dvd of the entire game I bought last year. That's Jack Whitaker, who used to do that every week. I believe he is referring to the Ice Bowl game, in which the Cowboys "almost won" when it was -15 zero, so I take it by that, it's about 30 degrees, which seems about right with all the snow. In the DVD, it's very hard to tell if Pearson pushed off. But what makes the play is when Staubach pumps left, which takes safety Paul Kruase out of the play.
You viking fans should of been thanking the ref for the blown call. If they win that game they beat the rams again and get crushed by the steelers in super bowl X. There's no way they would have beaten the steelers after the ass kicking they took the year before.Would be 5 lopsided super bowl losses instead of 4 if not for that ref doing them a big favor.
Nothing like the old days, Bilbo!! Did you ever see Jack Tatum or Jack Lambert play the game? In today's game you can't breathe on the quarterback without getting a 15-yard penalty. They played defense back then, not anymore. Football is still awesome, but yes, those were the good ole' days!!
Today's teams would wipe these old teams out. I'll even say that the '72 Dolphins would go 9-7 in today's NFL, the game is now played at such a higher level. Nothing like the old days, my foot!
Well, of course today's teams are better, for the sport is so much more of a business now and players train all year. The average lineman back then was 250 pounds; now, it's 300. But when people say "Nothing like the old days," they usually mean that there was more innocence to the game, more personality. It has nothing to do with talent. Talent is boring.
Yes, yes, yes!!! Couldn't have said it better myself. I wish they're hurry up and get the stadium and go with what the owner wanted for new stadium: NO ROOF. Get your stadium and build it with NO ROOF!! It would be fantastic ... people would love it. I wish more Vikes fans would push for this ...........

These old openings are great and bring back a lot of memories for me. I miss games from the old Met.
That was real football.
Thanks for posting this.
