Japanese Koto Quartet "Radentai" plays "Aoku" composed by Hideaki Kuribayashi (one of the best solo Koto players).

Koto is Japanese traditional musical instrument. Radentai plays not only traditional music but also Jazz, Pop, Rock using the Koto.

そうなんです、こういう表現も出来る楽器なんです琴は。

普通は、ギターのピックみたいな固いものを指に装着して弾くので­すが、

この曲は指の腹ではじくような奏法です。

ひたすら弾きつつけるので、マメが出来て破れて、やがて固くなる­。

そんな曲です。

Radentai, I am impressed with your music! Is there any way to get it in the United States?

I play a plucked string instrument ( harpsichord) and also treasure the recording of Michio Miyagi "Masterpieces of Koto" which I bought in Yamagata in 1964. Radental takes the Koto in a new direction, I would not have imagined. But I love Radentals approach also. Koto is a wonderful instrument and the Japanese are to be thanked for showing its versatility and beauty to the rest of the world.
