HDTVNEWS REVIEW: Film Premiere/Red Carpet on 2007-09-23 in London of the outstanding DISNEY Film: "AND WHEN DID YOU LAST SEE YOUR FATHER - " .JIM BROADBENT can definitely be described as a really EXTRAORDINARY PERSONALITY. He is Arthur in the Film. He has successfully performed in outstanding films, and have a non-stop award winning career. He did also star in television and theatre plays. He has become one of Britain's leading and most loved actors. Jim Broadbent gained a huge acclaim for his role in Iris (2001) winning the ACADEMY AWARD and GOLDEN GLOBE for Best Supporting Actor.
But one of the greatest role we would always remember him was,in the same year, and a role who won Jim the BAFTA AWARD for Best Supporting Actor, his role opposite the amazingly timeless and lovable Star Nicole KIDMAN in Baz Luhrman's Musical MOULIN ROUGE (2001).
He earned further major film credits include Mike Leigh's Vera Drake (2004), Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason (2004) and Bridget Jones Diary (2001), Martin Scorcese's Gangs of New York (2002) .
In Leigh's highly praised Topsy Turvy (1999) Jim Broadbent performed and won Best Actor at the VENICE Film Festival.
Among many other amazing films are Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits and Brazil; Mike Newell's The Good Father and Enchanted April; Neil Jordan's The Crying Game; Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway; Richard Loncraine's Richard III and The Gathering Storm; Mark Herman's Little Voice; Stephen Fry's Bright Young Things; Frank Coraci's Around The World In 80 Days; and Mira Nair's screen adaptation of Vanity Fair in Which he delivered outstanding performances...His most recent credits include Hot Fuzz (2007), Art School Confidential (2006) and The Chronicles of Narnia (2005). Inkheart, is his Latest FILM (Film in Production) a New Line's adaptation of Cornelia Funke's best-selling children's novel, directed by Iain Softley (who also directed a Venice Film Festival acclaimed Film : THE WINGS OF THE DOVE).
In television, Jim won a BAFTA TV Nomination for The Young Visitors (2003) as well as Golden Globe and Emmy Nominations for the HBO classic The Gathering Storm (2002). Most recently Jim appeared in The Street (2006) for BBC and Longford (2006) for HBO/Channel 4.
He started his career as an assistant stage manager at the Regent Park Open Air Theatre, his leading theatre credits include Richard Eyre's The Government Inspector, The Pillowman, and most recently Theatre of Blood, all for the Royal National Theatre. Other leading theatre credits include Sam Mendes Habeas Corpus for the Donmar Warehouse and Max Stafford Clarke's The Recruiting Officer for the Royal Court Theatre. VIDEO CLIP©2007.HDTVNEWS.
