Lyrics written by:Glenn Carter Elliott
Music written by: Glenn Carter Elliott, Andreas "Freddie" Busshart, Darryl Romanyszyn, Jimmy Boland and Bruce Willhoit.
This is a song I wrote about my uncle that was killed in world war two. It also reflects how people born around the same time I was (1962) didnt see a whole lot of war action. By the time we were of age there was not a whole lot going on. There were a few conflicts and people did die, but all and all we came up at a good time, lucky you, lucky me. Now with the current war in Iraq, we see our children going off to war, and that is reflected in this song as well.

Thomas William Carter Jr. "Billy" was Seventeen when he joined the marines, 23rd regiment 4th division. Being under age his father signed for him to join. Billy was killed at the battle of Saipan on June 19th 1944. In the song "lucky you lucky me" I say the year that Billy was killed as 1943, an error on my part, but the recording was already done when I learned this, and I wasn't up to the editing to correct it. The band also said it had a better ring to it as 1943, so I'll write it off as poetic license. After Billy died in action, his father blamed himself for his sons death saying he should have never signed for him to join. His father would die from a heart attack before Billy's body ever made it back home.

Thanks for listening,
Glenn
