A little song composed by me using linux and free music software:
- drumming: hydrogen
- midi sequencer: rosegarden
- arp sound: synth1 VST
- lead sound: minimogueVA VST
- bass sound: superwave P8 VST
- mastering software (showing in te video): ARDOUR for Linux

I used VST in Linux running VSTHost for Windows under Wine with WineASIO library. Within VSTHost I open all the VSTs, and assign each one a single midi channel filtering midi-in signal. In the sequencer I send all midi signal to the VST into MIDI THRU port, but each VST is sent with the right MIDI channel.

  • The people want you to compile it into one single software suite. They dont wanna have install the 6 individual programs :-P.

If I were hardcore, I'd do that myself. Alas, I am not hardcore, though I wish to someday be so. I like it, I feel like trying to copy it for my friends mixing needs. He's bomb with music but he's noob with computers and software.

  • @christoph2005: Hi, you don't need to compile anything. May I recommend that you try Ubuntu? You can then easily install all these applications without compiling them. Just a suggestion if you're interested in trying linux (the easy way)...
