PLEASE READ THIS - This clip is from the 1961 Italian Peplum version of "The Thief of Bagdad", which starred Steve Reeves as Karim. The original title was "Il Ladro di Bagdad" and was co-directed by Arthur Lubin and Bruno Vailati. Lubin was a successful director of light comedy in the US and his Abbott and Costello comedies saved Universal from bankruptcy. As a reward he was allowed to direct Universal's 1941 remake of "The Phantom of the Opera", a financial and critical success. He was also involved with both the Francis the Talking Mule series of films and the "Mister Ed" television series, about a talking horse.

The film also featured Giorgia Moll as Amina, the lovesick princess; Arturo Dominici as Prince Osman, the proud ruler that vies for the love of Amina; Edy Vessel as Kadeejah, Amina's faithful handmaiden; Georges Chamarat played the magician who aids Karim on his quest; and Antonio Battistella played Amina's dithering father, the Sultan of Baghdad.

I am always looking for new ideas for this series. If you have any suggestions please don't hesitate to drop me a line.

  • the first 5 minutes are a waste though shud have been cut

  • You obviously felt that the writhing flesh took too long to arrive. If so, then I didn't make this clip for you. I made this clip for the people interested in the seductive interplay between Karim and the evil queen. The whole piece, from Karim's entry to the cave to it's destruction is a complete unit. And yes, the dance only occupies a short segment of this. If you want instant gratification of your lecherous desires I suggest you skip Youtube completely and go straight to Youporn.

  • hi pwgr2000

i appreciate a great deal your videos

i suggest you "The Golden Blade dance scene" and these of the Conqueror with Susan Hayward dancing with two swords

    jean marc B.

  • Good suggestions. I'll get onto it straight away. Many thanks.

  • She is gorgeous, magnificent, ( EDY VESSEL ) and she plays the wine scene perfectly. Todays artists cannot even get close to that

  • Are you really saying that you think this actress has more talent than most contemporary actors? You said "artists" so I assume you mean both men and women. She is competent in the role but doesn't do anything too demanding, and for my money is largely forgettable.

That's quite a stretch to say she is better than Hillary Swank, Daniel Day Lewis, Cate Blanchett, Leonardo DiCaprio, Uma Thurman, not to mention ALL of "today's artists".

  • Edy Vessel reminds me of Diane Lane

  • Steve Reeves did not have the massive muscularity that he had orininally shown as Hercules....but this is perhaps because he was injured in a chariot accident while filming a movie in 1962 I think it was.

  • Do you happen to know where to buy this DVD?

  • Hi pwgr2000. In my opinion yes. You've posted the movie and I'm thankful for that. I'm referring to the subtle movement of the eyebrows, the evil face she makes and her expression before turning into a stone. She made other movies and some of them very famous with Fellini's as director. Maybe I have should have said: " Some actors

today cannot even get close to that. ". Please keep on posting. Thank you
