A rare video produced by Specimen in 1986 in San Francisco. The track is off the never released Specimen album recorded with the '86 SF lineup.

This version of Specimen featured Ollie Wisdom (vox), Kimba (bass & backing vox), Smeg (guitar), Geri Finelli (keys & backing vox), & Tim (drums) [not confirmed who was on drums yet]

Apparently, the stop motion is by "the cake twins" that baked cakes for all of their favorite rock stars (Kiss, Alice Cooper, Wasp, etc.); apparently they were featured in some rock zines "back in the day". The cakes had all of the guts brains and blood on the inside. This video features a cabbage patch doll being put together guts first.

  • @brianbordelloofnecro I was referring to the full album which was ne'er released. I have a digital copy which I got from my good friend who was the bass player during the early 80s San Francisco based version of Specimen. As for "the original band", I find this small comment amusing as I was the guy that Jon Klein enlisted to be the "lead singer" for Electric Ballroom. Heh

  • Was this live footage recorded at Club DV8 on Natoma?

  • @klunkerbill I am not sure, but I will ask my friend who was there.

  • aw, how come they never brought the album out? That would have been fantastic, and give me more to listen to! Love Specimen!! Go Johnny Slut!

  • Heh, Slut wasn't part of the mid 80s SF line up or the album that was never released.

  • I was in the crowd at this video shoot in S.F.... my first year out of high school! I was starstruck by Ollie, but most impressed by Kimba the bassist. The whole band rocked!

  • I'm going to see Kimba Friday. I'll have to tell him!

  • To the people here who say this was not released at all. I own it. It's B-side is BrainBurst. Maybe they never released it to the public but I have it. Anyone want to buy it. We can talk but for me to give it up is like giving up a child. I don't know anyone else who owns it. I'd make a trade for the Bat-shaped album with Returning on it. I have all the albums but the Bat one. I'd rather own all from the original band then not own that album but both are preiceless.

  • this is probably the gayest (not in a bad way) video ive seen from them

  • LOOKS LOIKE UPSTAIRS @ THE MAB...

  • ID HAVE TO SAY UPSTAIRS @ THE MAB...

  • Unusual clip.

  • @klunkerbill

The live footage was shot at the on broadway just above the Mabuhay Gardens.

  • @jankk I actually did get it on download.

  • @Lunatasma i just did some quick research on amazon & my personal collection, and as far as i can tell, "indestructible" was only released as a 12" single. it's not on any other Specimen comp, album, EP, etc, that i could find, not even on amazon as an mp3. so you may have a bootlegged or home burned copy/downoad.

kraquehaus? any input on this? :-)

  • @pongojingy yes, i met the band in the 80s, and Kimba was just so super incredibly nice! i mean, all the band were cool & down to earth, but he was just so much extra friendly & enthusiastic. it was rad to have hung out with them!
