Hey Dave, I thought your preferred method of cleaning the boards was with simple green followed by linseed oil? Maybe you were just using the simple green stuff for DNA removal on the body. I'll go take a look at the DNA removal video, I have a Squire I just picked up that has some gunk in the frets (chicken wing juice? I did find some long hairs hanging from under the pick guard. People are disgusting)

fuck Im watching this after I just finished the Taylor steel wool tutorial on my guitar. Thank God I don't have any nice inlays I would be screwed! Now where is my damn vacuum..

I go for the fine grade sanding pads. I used to do steel wool and it works very well but as Davey is saying is soooo messey and you have to tape the hell out of your guitar and pickups, I still tape off the neck but with the pads nothing else really matters. They get it down to a great clean slick surface really quick and has never gouged or marked a fret. I then go back over MY GUITARS with 0000 steel wool and use it just to lightly shine the frets, only taped necks never ever ever on the board

@rnrsteev Sure let it rip, I was about to comment on this video and saw you talking about making them shine like silver, I make them shine like silver too. Hows your method?
-
@om3gadagg3r - my frets shine like pure fuckin silver without wool, sandpaper or chemicals. 100% non-destructive. would you like to know how?
-
@rnrsteev The vid is about steel wool. Noone gives a rats ass what you observed. Go piss up a rope :) And as always, have a nice day.

@om3gadagg3r - Illiterate? observation, not judgment. Suspiciously hypersensitive to observations of alcohol consumption.

@rnrsteev Drunk? Who are you to judge anyone? The man is in his own house, doing what he digs. BLOW IT OUT YER ARSE! Smug prick.

You seem like a VERY legit and professional guy who knows guitars. My question, I want to get a satin neck on my Les Paul. The gloss is just getting on my nerves. I hate it getting sticky when I sweat and stuff like that. I know its a poly gloss on the neck, but can you suggest a method to get a satin neck?? Not bare wood. I want a satin neck, like on the epiphone traditional pro and stuff like that. I love that smooth dry feeling rather than the sticky gloss feeling on the neck.
