Both Quincy Jones and Georges Delerue were nominated for Best Score Academy Awards in 1985...Jones for THE COLOR PURPLE (he used OUR MOTHER'S HOUSE for a trial track) and Delerue for AGNES OF GOD. MANY felt Jones copied too closely the Delerue piece...Georges merely took the similarity as a compliment. Neither one won the prize that year.

You play this beautifully.

A simple piece, but so beautifully and tenderly played. Your rendition of this piece makes me want to watch the movie.
Thanks for the sheet music as well, AnnemieVR. :-) Please keep up the good work of spreading the glorious wonders of music to the world!

@tequilaal Thanks, that's the link I used to make this score... I'd never had known this beautiful music without YouTube, which I'm grateful every day :)

Wait a darn minute, that is the Color Purple theme by Quincy Jones. U ripped him off!!! LOL. I know Georges Delerue wrote this in 1967 to Our Mother's House.

Hi Thanks for the comment, I didn't know Quincy Jones' work. Yes, they look alike, but there quiet a lot of differents too. Interesting! But this piano piece is not that theme though, it starts otherwise (with this very sweet piano piece) and the theme at the end is minor in stead of major as in the main theme.
