  • Sounds great through my system! Computer--------> Stereo System.Very cool tune too. What year was this made?

  • @TwinMillMC This came out the same time The Beatles were taking the USA by storm. On top 40 radio you may hear I Want To Hold Your Hand followed by this - a very interesting mix of things at the time - I think 1964

  • would you have Pete Drake's "Steel Guitar Rag" from Cumberland records to upload? I've had that album for nearly 50 years bot misplaced it !

  • @gnativerson It will take some time to look into. We have actually provided Pete's family with recordings long strayed from his possession, so perhaps.

  • Did anyone know Pete Drake is from right here in Augusta, Ga.?

My Dad John Hutto knew his Brother ,William Drake, very well. As a kid I remember Dad making trade deals with William. I guess Pete had already moved to Nashville by that time.

He was a real genius inventor and great Steel player.

Thanks for this video, Ray Hutto

  • Absolutely Beautiful!

  • Thanks for posting this! Such a musician.

Also, those VU meters are off by a few dB ;)

  • I was around at the time but don't remember this at all. It charted on the Billboard Top 40 starting April 11, 1964 and remained for 5 weeks peaking at #25. It's a terrific tune and Sound quality is phenomenal. Thanks for posting!

  • @catman5169 Me too, Catman! But for me it was only for a semester at my college radio station, 1965. I wonder if anyone today would understand the expression "peg the needle" ;-) Great memories. This Pete Drake video is just beautiful!

  • Pete was awesome and very ground breaking with the steel guitar very much like Les Paul was to the electric guitar.....He was a great artist, thank you for posting the song....This recording is really good, perhaps better than the original....This is great for those of us that are still around and remember the music and the man.........

  • I bought this tune on a Mercury/Smash Lp in 1964. It never sounded like this! Let's put all of Mr. Drake's music on CD!

  • Watching those VU meters kick brings back fond memories of my days in radio!! We used actual vinyl in those days!!!

  • The three views who did NOT like this can kiss my ass.
