@WhiteProfondo Well, professional bass, probably, would get Contra-H.
-
Dieskau als Supergigant in Sprache , Ausdruck, Deutlichkeit und Pausensetzung, perfekt und dennoch emotional.
Ein Bravourstück, wie es sein sollte.

@VitaliyGR There is an earlier recording (1950) of the same cantata conducted by Fritz Lehmann, where Fischer-Dieskau sings the "right" E.

I love that cantata

Whats that for tremendous aria??? WOW,cool!!!! And thats Dieskau? Well done! Well, at last he sang not the low E. Hihi, I would sing low Contra-H at "für" before low Es (dem Tooooooo) ,following Fis and then the Contra-H, thats so cool!!!^^

Well, Fischer-Dieskau, for all his abilities, was more a baritone, than a bass, and the low E seems like a bit TOO low for him :) which is a pity considering the final passage of the melody, with its wide leaps ending on that low E, which he sings an octave higher. But sounds great, nevertheless ;)
