A Massive Boat Fire broke out at about 9 am this morning
At Coal Harbours Westin Bayshore West Marina , 3 luxury speed boats went up in flames ,also causing major damage to several other boats , 30 firefighters fought the blaze
Damages are estimated at over a million dollars , Area residents have said to me , They heard several explosions just before the flames broke out , VFD have said at this time they do not believe the fire was suspicious , A coal harbor boater told me that he was staying on a boat next or very close to the boat that first caught fire , he grabbed a fire extinguisher from the dock and the guy that owns the boat that was on fire told him Dont put out the fire , I suspect cause the blaze was to massive at that point , VFD are investigating.

  • In my video I report that the fire started at 9 am

that's what was told to me , at the time

and that's what Global had reported at noon , during their noon broadcast , we all know now that the fire began at 830 am , sorry folks

  • Local area residents heard explosions and saw thick black smoke at 8 30 am

The gent I spoke to at the Starbucks in the Westin Hotel , said he had attemted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher , but was told not to by the owner of the boat that first caught fire , that's what he told me

So I guess no one called the fire department till about 9 am

That's what's been reported in the province newspaper

  • i man i was at high school that day.... crap

  • Horrible fire. Best go down to Hastings street and get some weed.

  • Good report, I should have been there earlier & stuck around later. I only saw the smoke from the Granville St bridge on the way to the office and made a detour to head down and have a look! Good coverage.

  • good on the firemen! saved the marina.
