[Author's note: Sorry I haven't posted this in a while but I finished the other series so on with this one. Hope you enjoy it :)]
Every pupil was looking at me. Say no, Mr. Barry! Say no!
He nodded. "Of course you can."
Damn it.
"I'm quite surprised that you know Miss. Prada, usually nobody does" Mr. Barry said confused.
Uh, did my teacher just insult me? Nick did his usual man strut to the back of the class with every pair of female eyes glued on him. Mine rolled around at him.
Once he finally sat down, the teacher explained the project. "Everybody get with your partners, and get to working." Mr. Barry told us.
Nick sat across from me and put on his best angelic face. "So, what are we suppose to do?"
"Were you not listening?" I asked.
Nick was turned around whispering to a girl named Ali.
"Clearly." I said annoyed. Wow, stupid and a jerk. He's going to fit well in this school.
He faced back to me, "Can you just tell me what we have to do?"
I put on my best angelic face, "No."
"Well then, I guess we're just gonna have to fail." Nick replied.
Fail, I hate that word. My entire life was a failure; I was not going to let this arrogant "hunk" ruin it anymore, even if it was just a project.
"Fine," I said giving in. "The project is to come up with anything artsy. Like we can act out a scene, recreate the Mona Lisa, or write a song."
The bell rang. It was lunchtime.
I started to get up, but heard Nick call me back. "What Jonas?"
"Am I going to be seeing you again today?" he asked.
"Hopefully not" I said coolly.
"So my house or yours then?" he asked.
"Excuse me?"
"For the project, today after school. My house or yours?" he explained.
Oh, definitely not at my house, or if I can even call it mine.
"Yours." I replied.
Nick nodded, "meet me at the football field so we can go to my house after tryouts."
"Fine, I'll be there. Later," I replied as I headed for my locker then to the cafeteria.
I sit down with my food at my usual table, and usually alone. As I take the last bite of my burger, I look up and see Nick already sitting at the so called popular table with girls draping over his shoulders. He catches me staring, and winks at me.
I give him a "whatever" look, pick up my tray and walk outside to the courtyard and the bench where I always sit and read before another class. Today, it was occupied by some guy with straight black hair. I was surprised, nobody ever comes to the courtyard for lunch.
"Hi, this is the bench where I usually sit everyday." I told him.
He slid to the other side of the bench, "I'm sure it can fit the two of us. I'm not that big you know," he said smiling.
"Whatever" I thought, and sat down as I opened my book "The Lovely Bones".
"What's wrong?" he asked. "By the way, I'm Joe."
"Melody." I said looking at him oddly. "How do you know something's wrong with me?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. There's this vibe coming from you that I can feel that something's up."
Well he's the first person to notice something about me or even notice me. Why he heck not tell him what was up? "I just had a couple encounters with this conceited guy today, but besides that everything fine." I explained.
"Oh, I get it. You know how boys are; MAJOR DRAMA." he replied in a happy go lucky voice, flicking his hand.
I laughed. He was funny, maybe I'll finally have a friend in this school. They talked a bit more then the bell rang declaring lunch over.
Joe got up. "I have to go to my next class. Let's hangout soon Melody!" he said leaving but as he did, he stumbled on a rock.
I giggled, he was such a dork. "Definitely Joe! Later." I said.
