@brightlights456X The left pedal dampens, (muffles), whilst the right sustains (notes carry on after you let go of the key). You'll find you use the right a lot more than the left.

1000 Miles - Vanessa Carlton is challenging for a beginner but definitely possible (one of my student learnt it as their first song too). Why not try that?
Once I've learned the basic's. Should I jump into the deep end and start with classical music in order to get better. Sort of like playing a chess champion, only get better if I play harder/better/challenging opponents.
