The most popular version of this song was by country music singer, George Strait. In 1998 it was number one on the Billboard Hot Country Hits. This version is by Jerry Williams who I am not familiar with, but something tells me his version came first. If anyone knows more about this song by Jerry Williams please let me know. The song was also done by John Prine.

Yes, George Strait had the most popular version here in the US
and Daniel O'Donnell also had one. Can't think of anyone else
