I think the character description and script doesn't leave much room for experimenting with this role. Someone could come up with a performance very similar to Steve Martin's without ever seeing the film. Trying to do something different would be very risky here. Good performance though, Set design is very clever too.

What the fuck is that lady doing to his leg?

Great performance, wonderful interpretation, but bad acting on the girls' speaking parts. I like how in other versions, they're kind of jamming with him, but in this, as they sing, they make their discomfort and how weirded out they are very clear.

Not if steve martin took painstaking liberties which ultimately destroyed the character.

those girls did good.

I have to agree with namelessfire. Orin is very two-demensional, and Steve Martin is a good as it gets. It could be worse. Mad props to Jared, this was a great performance.

Lol I don't know what the issue is with his impression. I love the way he portrays the character, and the story is most recognized as how Steve Martin does this character. Why not base it on that? This is great!
For those who mock this guy for copying Steve Martin keep in mind that The Dentist is suppose to be a two dimensional evil character. There is not much wiggle room when it comes to this guy. He is suppose to be sick, twisted, sociopath and Steve Martin's interpretation is about as good as it gets while still staying true to the character.

Obviously this was all based on Steve Martin's version.
Which is ok, but as an actor, you're supposed to make the character your own, not mimic another actor.
