Having a decent round at the old course at St. Andrews I embarrassingly topped my tee shot in the Swilcan Burn. Rather than take a drop from behind with a one stroke penalty I decided to play it out as the top of the ball was just out of the water. The caddies all thought I was crazy and would certainly leave it in the burn and make a big number on the hole. I hit it out. Hit a smoking 3 wood just in front of the first tee to have an angle, pitched it to 20 feet and drained it for one of the most unique bogeys in the history of the 18th. Barely matching my 50 pound 7 year old son on the hole as he hit three great shots and two putt for a 5, priceless!

What an amazing place to live as a young golfer. We played the New as well. One hole was too long for Zane to reach the green, he just aimed down the walking path, I think it was number 10. He managed to hit driver down that 3 yard wide mat covered path. Ball stopped on the path and he played to the fairway from there. Keep it up. Well look you up next time we go to St. Andrews.

  • Brilliant video, thanks for sharing! Were you on a trip to the UK?

Yes, My son won the Future Champions World Championship for 6 and under and this trip was a reward. He played the European Championships and then we played St, Andrews for a week, 2 rounds at the old course, the new course, Strathtyrum course and a couple coureses in Edinburgh. Perfect weather in May.
