@illCrackYoFace it is you just go to open your eyes and ears to more things that you see on just the surface. But have to dig about . there are some amazing bands who are creating some fantastic stuff . and to say that people dont write good music from anything other than floyds 1973 album. is limiting yourself to whats about.

@DavidKinner Interpol, The Killers, Sleater-Kinney, Metric, Tegan and Sara, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, these are the new New York Dolls and David Bowies. Remember the movement that took the airwaves away from 70s stadium Rock? It's what happens when you get too big and no one with a different vision can get in. Those giants had to come down for new bands to sprout up. Of course, Bill & Ted can take you back 40 years and leave you there. Nonstop 70s rock all the time! Yay, KISS!

@TurkiyeCumhurbaskani Kurt Cobain had the most truthful lyrics since Floyd's Wall album. Except they were more relevant. It's not like Cobain's dad fought in the WW2. What Gen Xer is going to identify with that war?
The RIAA decided what bands we would hear on radio, at concerts, et al. The 90s saw Rock going to its grassroots, going underground. The RIAA has turned its power to POP. If you want a big production you're going to see Bieber, Carey, Beyonce, and Timberlake.

@HardRockLover Nothing will ever be as "good" as the 1970s. It's not just the old man's rant. It's due to the giant machine that controlled the music industry in that time. If the execs liked you people heard your music if you were too weird you were out of luck. Everyone's taste were funnelled into a few categories and that allowed bands like Floyd to get make so much money. Did well tell you the name of the game? We call it riding the gravy train, baby!

I was fortunate to be at this show. Still have the "Eclipse" handbill. Later saw them in
London in Oct. '73. This show was better than the London show IMHO. Floyd played the whole album, later renamed "Dark side..." at both of those shows. Quite a remarkable experience, particularly since this album had not yet been released and we were all exposed to it unexpectedly for the first time. Even today, this is my favorite piece. A very strange, assorted audience in Boston as I recall.

@hulkhatepunybanner I'm young and I agree with @illCrackYoFace. Music nowadays is no where near as good as this. It's lost it's heart and ability to create stories and atmospheres.
why can't todays music be as good as this?
