After enjoying this version in HS in 1963, I now find out Matt Lucas is white! It's neither here nor there as I do love his delivery, but I assumed he was a black bluesman. In 1963 our music connection was WLS Chicago radio and we didn't have the luxury of seeing our favorites unless we actually bought a record and it might contain a photo, but not always. So, his unique arrangement and ultra cool delivery sounded black to me! I knew the Hank Snow classic and was in awe at this ultra hip hit

Damn, this is good, I remember it but had not thought of this song until recently when my sister asked about the song, and all she could remember was the line about "one of these days, it won't be long, you're gonna look for Matt Lucas, Matt Lucas be gone."
And Bingo! there it is on YouTube. If I were still working I would make a medley of this song and Roy Head's "Treat Her Right"

Matt Lucas - The M. C. Twine (Motor City). After 7 pages of youtube results, I gave up scrollin. Copy/paste that title in your youtube search, above. Had he done anythin else as good as "I'm Movin On", it probably would have been remembered. He was a wegro for sure. SPURN THE MUSE!!

The things you can find out on the internet are really amazing. Just a decade ago I would have likely not been able to find any info. on some of these rare recordings and artists.

I looked for Matt Lucas, and he's gone! His voice doesn't match his face, but this song is a keeper for sure!

Yes, you're right, but that is him in the photo! I looked him up online to make certain and there is some interesting info about him online.
