  • Nice job flooring it with only 283 miles on it. It's a shame people can't properly break in their engine.

  • you should get better educated on breaking in modern vehicles. There are many different, and educated, ideas on the subject.

  • Such as what? Companies breaking in the engines for you is one thing I've heard. Which dodge doesn't do. I've also read in the manual that comes with that car that dodge recommends a minimum of 500 miles. Why not do what dodge recommends? I mean they only made the car, they can't know that much about it

  • As one example, you may not seat the rings properly by babying it. Otherwise, what you are reading in the break in proceedures are not really for the engine, its for the driveline components such as the rear end. A few good romps will establish a wider wear pattern on the components. If you baby it the whole time, and then start romping the crap out of it, it will be harder wear than romping it a few times early.

  • awesome car but why not a 6speed so much more fun

  • Great question actually. I am typically a nothing but manual trans kinda guy. This car is the exception. I checked out the 6-spd cars and in a car this big its kind of awkward. Auto trans suits me with this particular car and I really have no regrets about going with the auto.

  • @ATeamOps0391 shut up toolbag~!!!

  • very nice sound

  • @ATeamOps0391 It's a shame people still think babying it in the beginning is going to allow the rings to properly seat. The rings WILL leak unless you force them to seat by breaking it in "hard."

The cylinder honing of a new engine acts as a file to allow the rings to "shave down" to match the shape of the bore. Being easy on it will not allow enough "filing down" to create this shape match. It takes high cylinder pressures to force the rings to expand out hard enough for this to happen.

  • no they have actually been spec'd at the same times 0-60 and qtr, the 393-ish gears in the stick accelerate alot faster than the 350-somethin gears in the auto, but the auto obviously has a faster shift time so it makes up for it, although thats with a perfect driver in the 6 spd

  • check the track times between the 2. i believe car and driver got faster times with the automatic. 1/4 mile and 0-60.

  • i'm going by the car and driver track times.

  • idk not if you can shift. dpends if the auto has a shift kit or whatev. maybe by a tenth or so

  • this is very true. especially with high performance engines....they have different break in procedures.

  • maybe more fun to drive but i believe the automatic gets better track times including 0-60.

  • nice but yea 6 spd much more sicker
